"Pressure avoided the torture of Josu Beaumont"
Senideak denounced the repressive policy of Spain and France Mobilizations and international concern were decisive Protests in the jails
Representatives of Senideak and Gestoras pro-Amnistia valued positively the numerous protests and supports received during the 42 days of hunger strike made by Basque political prisoner Josu Beaumont, before being expelled and handed over by the French Police to the Spanish. These organisms emphasized that "thanks to the social pressure Josu has not become a case like Iruretagolena, Arkauz or Tafalla".

Senideak and Gestoras Pro-Amnistía criticized procedure of urgent expulsion used by French Government with Josu Beaumont, who maintained a hunger strike during 42 days to which he added, at the moment of his delivery, a thirst strike. Due to his serious state of health the police had to take him to the hospital and afterwards he declared before the Audiencia Nacional, he was sent to jail.
From Senideak and Gureak they expressed "deep gratefulness" to organisms and hundreds of citizens who transmitted "our preoccupation to the serious situation which again another Basque political prisoner faced. This pressure and the extreme weakness due to the protest carried out by Josu, has made possible that our relative has not been tortured like Josu Arkauz, Teodoro Meabe, Luis Iruretagoiena and so many others".
Senideak remembered the intervention of Amnesty International, the French association Land of Asylum (Terre d'asile), the Christian Association for the Abolition of Torture, the Association for the Rights of the Man, the League of Human rights, the Coordinator of Defense of the Right of Asylum of Britain, as well as of multitude of groups from Euskal Herria.
As for the institutions, they emphasized the verdict of the Commission of Expulsion of Foreigners of La Rochelle opposed to the expulsion of Josu Beaumont, in addition to the preoccupation shown by Ezker Abertzalea, EA, CDN and IU, which sent letters to the French and Spanish ministries of interior, and the managements made by the mayor of Irunea (Pamplona) and the president of the Parliament of Nafarroa to know the situation this Navarrese citizen.
"This new delivery represents the continuity of the policy developed from Paris against the southern Basque political prisoners who already have fulfilled in French jails the sentence imposed by the Gallic courts and whose extradition has not even been asked for by the Spanish courts", indicated Feli Beaumont, sister of Josu and member of Senideak. The spokeswoman of the group of relatives of the Basque prisoners recalled what this count down has been for Josu, his family and friends".
Mobilizations
Beaumont also talked about the numerous popular mobilizations and denounced the attitude of the security forces "against the freedom of expression". In the same press conference, Alex Belasko, spokesman of Gestoras Pro-Amnistía emphasized that this delivery has also had its positive side, specially, the social pressures "that have avoided that Josu Beaumont was tortured like Iruretagoiena, Arkauz and Tafalla".
For the regrouping
Gestoras Pro-Amnistia informed that Basque political prisoners in the prison of Bonxe, Lugo, Jose Esnaola, from Lasarte; Jose Inazio Goikoetxea, from Amezketa; Jokin Urain, from Mendaro; Mikel Vázquez de Luis, from Irun, and Itziar Arrizabalaga, from Zestoa are all Mondays 24 hours in their cells in demand of their regrouping in Euskal Herria. Two of them, Goikoetxea and Vázquez, already have fulfilled 3/4 of the sentence and, in addition, Vazquez requires an operation. The request of being transferred to Martutene so that he can be operated has been denied. Also, the Basque prisoners jailed in Valdemoro Ion Etxeberria, from Gazteiz; Josu Goitia, from Onati; Aitor Liguerzana, from Gazteiz, Unai Parot, from Baiona; Jordi Purti, from Irunea, and Xabier Ugarte, from Onati have been punished during five weekends isolated because of a protest demanding the regrouping of the prisoners and with another five weekends for boycotting the counts.
BALANCE DE LA ENTREGA DE JOSU BEAUMONT
Se han realizado trabajos de información, encerronas, cohetes, encadenamiento en Baiona, manifestacion de herrialde con 3000 personas, cacerolada en el casco viejo de Iruña con kalejira de 1.500 personas en la que aparecieron decenas de encapuchados pegando a los participantes y hubó 5 detenidos. VALORACION
Hacemos una valoracion negativa porque: la entrega se ha ejecutado.
Por la disposición de muchos medios de comuncación (digamos, Diario de Navarra, Diario de Noticias, Canal 4, EITB, Radio Nacional en Navarra, Ser,...) por ocultar los 42 dias de Huelga de Hambre de Josu, la situación de Tafalla en la que 3 jovenes han sido detenidos, torturados y encarcelados. Ayudando al Gobernador Ansuátegui a la criminalización de cientos de personas.
Por las torturas sicologicas a Josu Beaumont Barberena, a sus familiares y amigos.
UPN y PSN por impedir como politicos mociones referentes a la inculcacion de los Derechos Humanos fundamentales de un vecino de Iruñea. Estos dos partidos politicos desde años atras niegan cientos de peticiones de colectivos y personas pidiendo Derechos políticos y humanos. Gloria Rekarte, interlocutora del colectivo de presos/as políticos/as vascos/as o Gorka Gomez joven torturado en la comisaria de Iruñea; y estos dos partidos hacen oidos sordos.
Valoración negativa tambien porque una vez mas la apuesta represiva del pp contra Euskal herria ha conseguido arrastrar a un Gobierno, el francés, supuestamente de izquierdas, siendo este Estado francés quien junto al estado español perpetua este conflicto y no dan salida democratica para este pueblo. El Gobierno francés que dispersa y ejecuta una politica de aniquilamiento contra los presos y presas politicas vascas.
Y ninguno de estos 2 estados hacen caso a una tregua de ETA en el frente de carceles, manteniendo el sufrimiento para el conjunto de todo el frente de carceles, presos, funcionarios, familiares...
Pero de esta entrega tambien hacemos una valoracion positiva por:
Porque por las presiones sociales se ha conseguido evitar que Josu Beaumont fuera un Luis Iruretagoiena, Arkauz, los jovenes de Tafalla, lo que son la mayoria de las personas detenidas bajo la legislación antiterrorista. Como ahora es el caso de Elejalde celebrandose juicio mientras la entrega de Josu. Juicio y posiblemente condenado por la Audiencia Nacional por haber sufrido brutales torturas que casi acaban con su vida por parte de la policia nacional mientras duro la incomunicación en dependencias policiales; o las personas detenidas el día de ayer (19 de marzo), 13 personas que estaran sufriendo torturas por parte de la Guardia Civil.
Agradecemos a la Sociedad Vasca, por exigir que el Alcalde de Iruñea y la Vicepresidenta del Parlamento de Nafarroa se hayan tenido que preocupar por la situación de Josu. Aunqeu sus partidos en sus respectivos lugares de trabajo no hayan aportado ni un granito de arena en evitar la entrega.
Y agradecemos profundamente la implicación de cientos de grupos sociales y politicos tanto de Euskal Herria, pueblo Breton y del Estado francés por conseguir que Josu no sea torturado fisicamente, evitando lo que habitualmente ocurre con una entrega.
Por ultimo, se ha desmotrado con esta entrega, que paso a paso esta sociedad la vasca es capaz de erradicar las torturas, entregas, carcel, exilio y muertes. Dando pasos en la finalización del conflicto mediante un entendimiento de toda la sociedad vasca..
Desde Gestoras pro-amnistia vemos imprescindible que las fuerzas policiales españolas salgan de Euskal Herria y que todos los presos y presas politicas vascas vuelvan a sus casas para ser sujetos activos de la resolución del conflicto, como todo el resto de la sociedad vasca.
